Submission Checklist

·         All entries should be formatted with 1.5” or 2” margins all around, in Times Roman 12, line spacing at 2.

·         Sage Publications will separately mail (or email) you a contract. After signature, please mail (or fax) it back promptly.

·         Your entry should be in Word (for Windows) or other standard word processing software.

·         Please proofread your entry.

·         Entry should correspond, approximately, to its suggested length.

·         Your Word file should consist of the following: contact information (your full name, address, phone and fax numbers, and email address), headword (entry title), word count, the entry itself, your name (again) and affiliation, a list of cross-references (see also’s), and the “further readings and references” list (alphabetically arranged).

·         Illustrations, such as tables, figure, and graphs: show the in-text placement of graphics by inserting a call-out in the text of the entry. Graphic material should be submitted in electronic form (via TOBIN) and in hardcopy to the project manager at this address: Larry E. Sullivan, Editor-in-Chief, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY, 899 10th Ave., New York, NY  10019.

·         Always keep electronic and hardcopy copies of your entry. Also keep copies of your source material in case questions arise during the editing process.

Submit your entries to the website following these steps:

1.       Go the website for the encyclopedia at http://www.referenceworld.com/sage/law.

2.       Click on “Access Tobin”

3.       Use the USERNAME and PASSWORD names the project manager gave you (when you committed to write entries) to access the headword list

4.       Click on “view headword list”

5.       Find your entry in the list: click on the entry title (remember that on the website the entries for all three volumes are combined so some entries may appear duplicative). Be sure to pick the correct entry.

7.       Fill out contact information

8.       Enter the file name (you can browse your hard drive to find the file)

9.       Click on “press ONCE to upload your file”

If you do not wish to upload your entry to the web or have problems, please send your entry via email attachment to the project manager.
